2nd Provincial Workshop to be Held in S. Hithadhoo

The second of a series of one day workshops on raising environmental awareness in the provinces is to be held in Seenu Hithadhoo on Saturday.

The workshop will be hosted by Muhibbuddin School and conducted by the Environment Department of Ministry of Housing, Transport and Environment. Participants will include 100 students from various grades, teachers and members of NGOs.

The aim of this workshop is to raise awareness amongst students on how they can be actively involved to protect and preserve the environment through various school environment club activities, climate change and its impacts, Maldives becoming a carbon neutral nation, water conservation, the celebration of International Year of Biodiversity in the Maldives, environmental laws and regulations and the importance of biodiversity conservation.

The workshop is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude at 5:30 p.m.

Also as part of the programme, a special awareness session would be held for the island community leaders that evening.
